The Seasons of Texas

Somewhere I am told that in the last months of the year
there is a place where the trees explode with color
unlike our piles of small brown leaves that distract
from beautiful green grass underneath.  Somewhere it

begins to get cold and the temperatures near
freezing much earlier than the two days that flirt
with ice around these parts.  Then again the
pleasant temperatures here make for nice outings.

I'm sure it gets old when year after year
you have to keep extra tools like snow shovels
and clothes for more than the two seasons
that we experience: Summer heat and Winter wet.
