1975

Kicked off on a Wednesday
Watergate had yet to become a suffix
Across the tundra we send the oil
and bombs explode on our home soil

The Vikings lost the battle to steel
and Rocky Horror  hits the stage
Chaplin kneels to receive the Order
While Mideast neighbors agree on a border

A billionaire begins to grow
Fischer refuses to move a pawn
The world will monitor Saigon's fall
And ships again in Egypt's canal

Americans and Soviets make unlikely partners
Katrina's refuge knows not its future
Two hundred thousand perish as fails the dam
Six wrongfully imprisoned in Birmingham

Then off for Mars the Vikings leave
Apache chiefs take leave on the wind
Rembrandt suffers at the hand of a knife
A leader escapes once again with his life

Spain heralds a new king
and the six ride for the first time
Fights over fish commence once again
On another cool Wednesday, it came to an end.
