Monday, January 7

Holiday hangover finally worn off,
resolutions still hanging overhead
and a few days work (if you could call it that)
under the proverbial belt

seems a perfect time for the juice,
the kickstart to light the fuse

long sparkle burning down
closer to setting the explosion loose
that propels the new year forward
and gives hope and optimism to the young

the days are short and sweet
ignorant of chances of defeat

and, rising refreshed and anew
the reflection on the past complete
and only greatness lies before
the future cannot be subdued

When from the calendar a week is shed
"Long live the new year! Last year is dead!"
