So I sit here with this phone plugged into my head like some
futuristic, cybernetic body modification for about ten hours
a day with only an hour or two taking time away to confirm
that I still have a biological component to my body. Occasionally,
I stop for a few moments to actually speak but much of the time
I am really just listening to other people talk and with no good
reason because they just thought their discussion needed to involve
me, whether or not I provide any input that is worthwhile or not.
"Cover your ass" they call it, but I think that means that they are
covering theirs with mine.
Always a blame game here in the real world, and so long as
someone else is the cause of the problem then no one will ask you about
your complicity.
It's that simple, really.
So the honest thing for me to do is to pay attention to what in the hell
is being said so that I know about it in the future, but then again
in the land of a corporate bureaucrat, one rule reigns:
"If it is important, someone will mention it again"
which really makes me wonder
whether I can skip entire days and just live with the repeat
when it cycles back again in a few days.
Urgent, important, priority, escalated, primary.
all supposed to indicate how to spend time and yet
repetition takes the cake.
It's the squeaky wheel that pisses you off.
Screw oil, what it needs is duct tape so it will
shut the hell up.
But if you can count on the
consistency
then you can be guaranteed that on the next rotation you will hear it again.
