yesterday's regrets

you can never regret the life you've lived
or choices that you've made
the best advice is to smile at your mistakes
for they are quite humorous in retrospect

never forget to learn from what you've done wrong
and don't kick yourself if you make a blunder
after doing right for so long

the patient man gets what he deserves
the impatient gives it away

and that, my friends, so I have learned
is my lesson for the day.

there always will be a next time, another time and then
a new opportunity presents itself for you to fail again
by learning from the last time out and trying hard to right
the wrongs of the time before won't come but new errors come to light

just don't regret the life you've lived
don't even regret your failures
don't revel in your successes
simply learn from your experiences
apply what you've learned
know what you've applied
act on your knowledge
and press on.
