the anticipation
of seeing the return address
and the hope and the glory
to be found within
with the promise of
fame and fortune
wealth and recognition
acknowledgement and cold, hard lucre
the dreams and wishes of
the passion and heartstrings
makes it that much
more cruel
when opened
to find
a reply
without personalization
except the misspelling
of your name.

This is great and I love that twist at the end.
Thanks! Wrote this for The Rejectionist's Uncontest on "What Form Rejection Means to Me" - her blog is http://www.therejectionist.com
if you came from somewhere other than there.
That's where I came across from!
I'm don't always appreciate poems but this one I really did.
Ha! I just posted elsewhere that my name is always being mis-spelled. I'm also called "Mr." a lot.
Mr. Lucy? Wow. Thanks for stopping by!
Hey, they always misspell my name too. I bet it's the same problem.
This is a neat poem.
Very nice!
Thanks!
Thanks, Camaroon, for the cool poem...
