whitewater

Slowly swirling
it gently glides
the clear pool
a waiting place
as it nears the edge
it starts to narrow
a small current
rushing over the rocks
a brief pause before
                            falling
                            down
                            too
                            quick
                            to
                            catch
                            your
                            deafening roar
                            white foam and froth
                            pushing under
                            and then back
                            circling above and below
                            the surface unable
                            to escape the cycle
                            and when the futility
is accepted, escape and continue to float down the stream.
