Self Doubt

Viciously ripping through
the flesh of the self-conscious,
shredding and shrieking,

the bite doesn't draw blood
but bearing down to destroy
bringing but death by a doubtful decline

in the true realization of talent
the track to test lets itself
trip those that try

the metamorphosis of the monster
feeding in a frenzy on the mind
of the few who may manage effort.

Sleep, sleep, self as I stab the beast
stake the heart and slice the slime
sending it away as the spirit strengthens
