eggnog.
cinnamon, cloves, filling the air
smelling trees, evergreens that aren't really there
fire log
crackling of roasted chestnuts
nobody really roasts chestnuts
and anyone opening fires is insane
time to gather with family and friends
another year passes, comes to an end
the candles are lit
the stockings are hung
the holiday season
has just begun
the twinkling lights
the cuddled huddles in the back seat
staring at lights as we drive
slowly through wonderland
the brisk air
clips the nose and chaps the lips
and gives reason to rushing inside
does there need to be a fire?
without a chimney the prospects are bleak
but warmth can come from within
during holiday season
twenty seven layers of clothing
and it isn't even snowing
but it sure feels nice to dream of ice
back to eggnog
and more rum in the toddies
spiced apple cider keeps me warm.
and the gifts under the tree
that are not for me
make me happy
