The flying falcon falls from afar,
feeling his flight falter, never knowing
what wind has whipped him away,
whisking him to a world anew.
Changing his line of sight.
No creature can control
the object of its emotions.
No creature can control
the one thing it desires.
Only by allowing some to pass
and to grasp a greater goal can
the goose become geese.
Do the mongoose become mongeese or mongooses?
Does it matter now?
Not to me I guesses but you have it anyhow.
And what point is pointing when the answer is so clear:
find the one perfect for you, and hold on to her in fear.
Not fear that she will leave you,
Or that others steal her away.
Not fear that you're not good enough
to liven up her day.
No, none of these are types of fears the one you love should cause.
Rather it's the kind of fear you only know when you pause
to think about the depth of feeling, love that you've allowed
to slowly steal your heart away, though you try to remain proud.
This pride you have will kill you, there's no need when she's about
A hateful word from her, a gaze, or perhaps to see her pout
Stings more than any beating could or even death could try
Because she has always had control, e'er since she caught your eye.
But what's to fear in losing? Who cares if she's the queen?
I must reflect it pays you back to have such sweetened dreams.
To think about her night and day, as if you have no other thought
To spend your money wisely, so that gifts for her you'll've bought.
To pine away at poetry, to artfully spend your time
trying to avoid the verse, and steering towards the rhyme.
To praise her in your music, to worship in your sleep
can only make you dread a day if her you cannot keep.
For you there may be many, sir,
for me, there's only one.
I hope she loved my poem now
that I am almost done.
I know she must have read it,
and wondered of the start.
And realized I have no skill
at making works of art.
So in time my friend you will see,
as I said there's one for me,
and one for you I am sure you'll find,
mongeeses you'll become in time.
