Wasteland Basin

The carnage is a brutal pile
despite the lack of flesh
and bone that sometimes
accompanies the destruction

Still the desolate scraps
that cling desperately to
the sides of the bowl
are but shadows of former glory

Clinging to remind of the
meal that once was
the feast that fed the
kings and queens

Stubbornly refusing to
break free and finally
accept the true fate as
waste, until the hot water wins.
