the beach

I drive silently                      along its sandy shores
headlights not needed           waves crashing in my ears
My mind violently                 fighting off the bores
Caution not heeded               salt air washing away fears

Sand nestles between           car behind on hot asphalt
toes experiment with grip      doors locked, keys tossed in bag
water shifting blue, green      hiding thoughts of guilt and fault
it has been quite a trip           waves beyond, the caution flag
